Hello all! Hope you had a wonderful New Years celebration and enjoyed the time spent
with friends and family. As we’re heading into the new year, new games will be releasing,
particularly of the video game variety! Without further ado, these are the most sought-after video
games that we here at Beyond the Batcave are excited for:
1. Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth – January 26th
I haven’t played all of the “Yakuza”/“Like a Dragon” games but they are on my list! If
you haven’t heard about these games, I urge you to check them out. They are some of the
wackiest, funniest, and surprising games I’ve ever seen. You play as a Yakuza gang member
who has a heart of gold. You have all kinds of adventures from taking down rival gang leaders to
signing karaoke in a rhythm style mini game.
2. Tekken 8 – January 26th
The 8th installment of the mainline Tekken franchise is almost here! Tekken 7 was a
massive success both commercially and critically. It was also popular between casual fans and
pro players so there is no doubt that there is a huge amount of anticipation from the fighting
game community for the release of this game.
3. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League – February 2nd
This is the next project from Rocksteady Studios, the legendary team behind the
groundbreaking Batman Arkham franchise. It doesn’t take the world’s greatest detective to
deduce that you will playing as the Suicide Squad, and their task is to kill a brainwashed Justice
League who are being mind controlled by the sinister Brainiac. A dark but hopefully fun game
awaits us all.
4. Mario Vs. Donkey Kong – February 16th
That’s right folks, a faithful remake of the 2004 classic is coming to Nintendo Switch!
The new and improved version introduces multiplayer with Toad as a playable character along
with Mario and Donkey Kong of course. Get to dodging those barrels this coming February!
5. Destiny 2: The Final Shape – February 27th
I have recently got into Destiny with a friend of mine, so I personally excited for this expansion! It includes, exciting new locations, armor, powers, a new raid, and the shiny new exotic “Tessellation.” It is the 8th expansion for Destiny 2 and it seems to be their most promising one yet!
6. Star Wars Outlaws – TBH
After the success of the souls-like Star Wars Jedi games, another action-adventure game
set in a galaxy far, far away is set to release this year! Timeline wise, it takes place between The
Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Not much info has come out, but we do know it is an
open world game where you play as Kay Vess, a scoundrel fighting her way through the galaxy’s
toughest crime syndicates just to survive.
