This is Batcave Treasures official review of the latest podcast drop from our dear friend In the Dark with Todd Harris Jr.
Part one of “The Hypnotist” leads us to a deep universe with a plethora of images that will not just stimulate your imagination but take you back in carnival time when the odd, peculiar and unusual were embraced as spectacles to be admired. But really who is the monstrosity? Is it the admirers or the spectacles themselves? Only the Hypnotist really knows. There is a deeper narrative here in Todd’s work, something that resonates in and through his heart. Art in spoke and picture form.
Part one very much has a “period piece” feel..something that might have come out of a silent film era, well maybe not back far, but far enough to make us draw an underlying semblance to modern day psychology. It's familiar to our psyche if you get it. The spinner, well I think we are on it. The voice acting again here is superb, the production value what you would expect from Todd’s exceptional editing skills.
We meet Bobo and Benoit and hear firsthand stories about their interactions with this Hypnotist and how misplaced faith in those around to heal us can be deceptive and dangerous. Having been a Fred Astaire fan about all my life, I was sad to hear of his untimely demise, of course for this story-fictional.
The music Todd uses tells his story are gems in of themselves, familiar and yet unforgettable. An unforgettable story with portraits of lives that are relatable.
I give this 5/5 stars!
